Job Description:


CLIENT is seeking a highly motivated Warranty Analysis Engineer – Engines to support warranty failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives across automotive powertrain and mechanical systems. This role is responsible for improving product reliability, reducing warranty costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction by working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and service teams.
The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on automotive system knowledge, and experience analyzing warranty returns and field failures.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed warranty part analysis and investigate returned field components.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as:
    • 8D
    • Fishbone Analysis
    • 5 Why
    • FMEA
    • Fault Tree Analysis
  • Analyze failures related to engine systems and associated mechanical components.
  • Support component disposition activities including:
    • Teardown analysis
    • Repairability assessment
    • Scrap/rework recommendations
    • Containment actions
  • Collaborate with product engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing, and service teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, material specifications, tolerance stack-ups, and validation reports.
  • Utilize warranty databases and engineering analytics tools to identify warranty trends and recurring failures.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering recommendations, and failure summaries.
  • Participate in supplier technical reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement activities focused on product reliability and warranty reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and other automotive quality standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in:
    • Automotive Warranty Analysis
    • Product Engineering
    • Quality Engineering
    • Failure Analysis
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Automotive mechanical systems
    • Engine systems
    • Powertrain
    • Transmission
    • Driveline
    • Exhaust systems
    • HVAC systems
  • Hands-on experience with teardown analysis and failure diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, materials, and reliability engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • CAD drawings
    • Engineering specifications
    • GD&T
    • Test reports
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering data analysis tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and field data analysis.
  • Experience using warranty management systems and quality tools.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma
    • Statistical analysis techniques
  • Experience with hybrid and electric powertrain systems is a plus.
