Job Title: Lunch & Recess Leader
Position Type: On-Call / Flexible Substitute / Non-Instructional
Location: DuJardin OR Erickson Elementary School
Hours: On-Call Basis | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Reports To: Building Principal / Assistant Principal
About the RoleLooking for a flexible, short-hour role that fits around your busy daily schedule? We are seeking reliable, friendly Substitute Lunch & Recess Support Leaders to join our elementary team on an as-needed basis!
You’ll step in to help ensure our K–5 students have a safe, enjoyable, and well-supervised lunch and outdoor/indoor playtime. This is an ideal position for parents, retirees, college students, or community members looking for flexible on-call work without full-day commitments.
Key Responsibilities- Cafeteria Supervision: Assist young students with opening food items, maintain a clean and orderly environment, and guide smooth transitions between eating and play time.
- Playground & Recess Safety: Actively monitor outdoor play areas, facilitate safe and inclusive play, and help resolve minor peer disagreements.
- Positive School Culture: Provide a welcoming, encouraging adult presence and help maintain school safety rules and behavior expectations.
- Communication: Report any notable student issues or safety concerns to building administrators.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Prior experience working or volunteering with children (e.g., youth sports, childcare, parenting) is helpful.
- Key Traits: Dependability, warm demeanor, flexibility, and strong communication skills with young children.
- Physical Demands: Ability to walk, stand, and monitor indoor and outdoor areas in various weather conditions.
- Clearances: Successful completion of required district background checks and onboarding.
- Ultimate Flexibility: Pick up mid-day shifts that fit your personal schedule—work as much or as little as you'd like.
- Short Shift Commitment: Quick 1-hour shift that leave your mornings and afternoons completely free.
- No Evenings, Weekends, or Holidays: Follows the standard elementary school calendar year.
- Make an Impact: Help our schools run smoothly and provide a friendly face for students during their favorite part of the day!
