Market Development Intern-Summer -Bloomington

The Market Development Intern will support and enhance the work done by the Market and Development department. The department manages contracts, special initiatives, coalitions, and relationships with a wide variety of supporters and stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Organizes and implements administrative systems and procedures performing necessary support duties of the department.
• Draft, edit and prepare correspondence, monthly reports and other material using word processing, spreadsheets and/or databases.
• Arrange venues and schedules for board members and staff for trade visits.
• Work with the ISA communications team and the Director of Market Development to manage ISA’s messaging and engagement around animal agriculture, aquaculture, biofuels, soy foods and new uses.
• Develop budgets, review project ideas, manage project and contract status working with an internal database.
• Manage multiple projects with varying timelines and specific deliverables needed for each.
• Able to work independently or cooperatively with others on a team.
• Ability to analyze problems, develop a path toward problem solving, and manage the process to completion.
• Capacity to make decisions and communication with tact and professionalism.
• Strong multi-tasking skills with a comfort in maintaining multiple, often conflicting priorities.
• Strong written and oral communications.
• Demonstrates working knowledge in MS Office, word processing, database, web application and spreadsheets.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to focus both on detail and the larger picture. Exhibits a high level of critical/strategic thinking.

Required Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, or senior in college at an accredited university.
• Willingness to travel within the state and potential overnight stay.
• Agriculture background preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Normal office working conditions
• Must be available to travel offsite for meetings/events when necessary.
• Some physical demands – may need to lift between 10-30lb.
