The Youth Development Lead Teacher is responsible for the daily oversight and coordination of the junior high after school program designed to support students’ personal development through the YWCA designed curriculum which covers topics including Healthy Relationships, Communication, Career and Skills Exploration, Financial Literacy and Anti-Bias training. The Lead Teacher will manage curriculum implementation, coordinate weekly activities and guest speakers/facilitators, supervise staff and volunteers, ensure
a safe and inclusive environment, and foster positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel. Other duties will include completing site inventory list, monthly emergency evacuation drills, submitting supplies and grocery lists, and general cleaning in the program area.
- Minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit; 9 hours must be related to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or other related fields.
- Ability to work well with school-age children.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, communication skills, and financial literacy concepts.
- Anility to lead interactive lessons and manage group dynamics effectively.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Must meet DCFS qualification for school-age worker.
- Proficiency in English required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficient in at least one other language is helpful.
- Must be available to start as soon as possible
