Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher supporting young learners with significant disabilities. This opportunity near Naperville, IL, involves leading a self-contained classroom for 4 kindergarten through second-grade students. Students remain in your classroom for core subjects and venture into the general education environment for select activities. Paraprofessional staff are assigned to assist in the classroom, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Schedules run from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling 35 hours per week, with the initial assignment spanning August 11, 2026, through September 23, 2026—and potential for extension.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
  • Experience working with primary-grade children with significant disabilities preferred
  • Proficiency in adapting instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort leading a team that includes paraprofessional classroom support staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualized instruction in a self-contained setting for young students with significant disabilities
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records in compliance with IEPs
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional approaches to address student needs
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and general education teachers to support inclusion opportunities
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom environment
