Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a 6th grade special education teacher in a supportive school environment! Take on a fulfilling contract position providing tailored instruction and guidance to students who benefit from specialized support.

In this role, you'll work with a dedicated group of 12 students in a special education ELA class, as well as partner with general education teachers to co-teach two classes—one ELA and one science. You'll also oversee a structured WIN period, supporting special education students with their study skills and academic goals in a focused, encouraging setting.

Qualifications and

Preferred Experience:

• Special Education Teacher certification, valid for the assignment
• Previous experience teaching at the middle school level preferred
• Strong background in English Language Arts and/or Science instruction
• Knowledge of IEP implementation, differentiation, and inclusive teaching practices
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in a co‑teaching model
• Ability to create a positive, motivating classroom community

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct a dedicated special education ELA class of 12 students, adapting lessons to diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers to co‑lead ELA and science classes, ensuring accommodations and modifications are met
• Guide a WIN (structured study hall) period fostering academic growth and independence in special education students
• Assess student progress, track data, and participate in IEP meetings
• Maintain consistent communication with families, colleagues, and support staff
• Incorporate evidence‑based strategies to help each child achieve their potential
