Job Description
A well-capitalized, relationship-driven community bank is seeking a Junior Credit Analyst to join its Risk Management team. This entry-level opportunity is perfect for an early-career professional eager to establish a robust foundation in commercial credit and underwriting.
This role offers comprehensive hands-on training and direct mentorship from senior credit leaders, with exposure to commercial, real estate, agricultural, and consumer lending.
What You'll Do- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and credit reports
- Prepare detailed financial spreads, ratio analysis, and cash flow models
- Create clear and well-structured credit presentations that outline strengths, risks, and mitigants
- Evaluate collateral and calculate loan-to-value ratios
- Recommend credit risk ratings according to loan policy
- Collaborate with lenders while exercising independent credit judgment
- Document policy exceptions and conditions to be met prior to closing
- Support annual loan reviews, portfolio monitoring, and audit assistance
- Participate as a non-voting member in loan committee meetings
- Help ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Fundamental understanding of financial statements, with a strong desire to learn about commercial credit
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to self-reviewing work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Curious, analytical mindset combined with professionalism and integrity
- Interest in community banking and a commitment to long-term career development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Aptitude for working with formulas, spreadsheets, and financial data
- Eagerness to learn about loan policies, regulations, and bank systems
Full-time, onsite position located in a rural Illinois market. Standard Monday-Friday schedule, with additional hours as needed. Relocation assistance is not provided, but candidates who are willing to relocate are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & BenefitsAnnual salary ranges from $45,000 to $65,000, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. This position also offers strong mentorship and opportunities for long-term career growth.
