Chestnut is seeking Behavioral Health Clinicians to join our growing team in Bloomington, Illinois. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance use assessments.
  • Partner with clients to develop individualized treatment, continuing care, and discharge plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling services.
  • Facilitate psycho educational, therapeutic, and skills-based groups.
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, recovery specialists, case managers, and community partners to coordinate client care.
  • Participate in court-involved and justice-related services when assigned.
  • Support interns, students, or other team members as appropriate.
  • Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care in every client interaction.
  • Uphold Chestnut's standards for customer service excellence while maintaining confidentiality of all client and organizational information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program and organizational needs.

Qualifications

Behavioral Health Clinician I

Behavioral Health Clinician I candidates may qualify through any one of the following pathways:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or another related human services field.
  • Bachelor's degree in another field with two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting.
Professional Certifications
  • Active Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credential in good standing with the State of Illinois.
  • Active Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential in good standing with the State of Illinois.
  • Certificate in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program, high school diploma (or equivalent), and two years of experience providing mental health services.
Professional Experience
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of supervised mental health experience.
Behavioral Health Clinician II

Behavioral Health Clinician II candidates may qualify through any one of the following pathways:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or another related human services field with five years of supervised behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in another field with five years of supervised clinical experience in a behavioral health setting.
Professional Certification & Experience
  • Active Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credential in good standing with the State of Illinois and five years of supervised behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and eligibility for agency vehicle insurance coverage.
