Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Transport Supervisor, the EMT will care for patients across all age groups, applying treatment and stabilization techniques within their scope of practice as governed by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Clinical duties are performed in accordance with population‑specific guidelines and the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma regulations.

• Licensure or other certifications:
  State certification as Emergency Medical Technician.
• Educational requirements:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum experience:
  
  Level I – no experience required.
• Other:
  Approval from the State of Georgia Department of Public Health to include emergency vehicle operation.

  Same as Minimum but preferred level.

• Competent in the administration of epinephrine auto‑injectors for anaphylaxis.
• Perform pulse oximetry and blood glucose measurements and interpretation.
• Administer pre‑measured unit doses of nebulized bronchodilator.
• Administer oxygen using the nasal cannula or mask; does not include High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
• May serve as the primary patient caregiver during transport.
• Knowledgeable of all laws pertaining to emergency vehicle operation.
• Operate NGHS vehicles within the NGHS standards and Georgia laws.
• Maintain all certifications required by law/department.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all aspects of emergency medicine related to pre‑hospital treatment of all sick and injured patients. Ensure consistent delivery of care to every patient. Keep vehicle clean, decontaminated, fueled, and fully stocked. Ensure all ambulance equipment is accounted for and retrieve any left at the hospital. Maintain mandatory NGHS education and employ sound judgment to resolve problems using the chain of command and NGHS Safety Tool Kit.

Dress appropriately in uniform, use radio communication professionally, and document accurately and expeditiously per Medical Transport standards.
