Overview
As an Instructional Designer
, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive onboarding and training program in support of our Federal client. You will work as part of a cross‑functional team—including designers and technical experts—engaging with stakeholders and end‑users to develop an effective approach and ensure adoption of new systems and processes.
- Outline and understand end users to create training appropriate to meet their diverse needs
- Analyze existing training materials and business processes to identify learning gaps/needs and opportunities for improvement
- Research appropriate learning content and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to structure learning paths
- Develop interactive and engaging training materials using a variety of modalities (videos, user guides, gamified learning, etc.) with learner theories in mind (ADDIE, Bloom’s, SAM, etc.) to create dynamic learning experiences
- Determine utilization of knowledge checks and compliance tracking
- Lead the training development and delivery
- Establish metrics and measure user adoption
- Facilitate learning management system administration, usage, and develop feedback loop for enhancement
- Consider long‑term governance for sustaining training programs and materials
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance
- 4+ years of experience in Education, Training, HR, or related field
- Thorough knowledge of the full training life cycle and demonstrated ability to develop and implement
- Knowledge of contemporary learning management software platforms
- Experience with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques
- Ability to convey complex information in a way that people understand
- Experience collaborating within a multi‑disciplinary delivery team including UX/UI designers, technologists, data scientists, engineers, solution architects, and change managers
- A collaborative nature with excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with Design Thinking and a natural curiosity for solving problems coupled with strong analytical skills
- Experience working in a project‑based environment
- Proficiency in MS Office and in database software
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Training and Instructional Design
- Previous work experience in or with the federal government
- Previous work experience as a consultant
Steampunk uses several factors to determine salary, including geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $140,000. Annual salary is an aspect of Steampunk’s total compensation package for employees.
