Reports to Regional President
About The OpportunityWorkspire is partnering with a trusted leader in industrial construction and lifecycle solutions serving thousands of customers across the United States. This organization is scaling aggressively and building out a new regional structure. They need an exceptional leader to establish and run the Upper Midwest region from the ground up.
As Regional Vice President for the Upper Midwest, you will lead operations across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, establishing Chicago as the operational hub for a regional expansion targeting $500 million to $1 billion in annual revenue. This is a true build opportunity- not a caretaker role. You will drive predictable operations (safety, margin, schedule, quality, cash) while simultaneously diversifying the service-line revenue mix into mechanical and structural, soft crafts, underground/UMI services, coatings, civil, and instrumentation and controls.
You will recruit Area Managers to own geography-based P&L, establish regional field operations leadership to scale delivery capability, and create an operating cadence that turns aggressive growth targets into repeatable results.
This role demands someone who blends operational rigor with commercial credibility: a leader with established industry relationships, builds teams who pride themselves on craftsmanship and reputation, and executes with urgency. You will be visible to senior leadership and have real influence over enterprise strategy.
What you will do First 6-12 Month Objectives- Establish a predictable regional operating system across safety, quality, profitability, and cash management. Implement weekly and monthly business reviews with clear KPI ownership, early risk identification, and documented corrective actions aligned to the organization's strategic plan.
- Recruit and develop Area Managers (geography P&L owners) and align with Service Line Managers (field vertical leaders) to fill critical gaps in Mechanical and Structural, Soft Crafts, and Service delivery. Prioritize hires who bring customer relationships and team-building capability.
- Map service-line diversification strategy and roadmap for the region. Define a prioritized leadership hiring sequence, identify market adjacencies (e.g., power generation, wastewater, advanced manufacturing), and establish baseline delivery capacity and playbooks for non-electrical verticals.
- Drive customer and market expansion through relationship-based business development. Grow key accounts, handle escalations, and position the company as a full-service industrial partner capable of delivering integrated solutions across multiple service lines.
- Launch safety culture alignment and metrics governance across the region. Ensure leaders understand and actively support TRIR, EMR, and leading indicator discipline; align multiple safety cultures during integration and growth without destabilizing field execution.
- Own regional P&L outcomes: forecasting, revenue and backlog management, margin discipline, overhead cost control, and cash/billing governance in partnership with finance. Manage to budget and reforecasts with discipline and transparency.
- Lead organizational design and leadership bench build. Hire Area Managers and influence Service Line Manager alignment. Screen candidates rigorously for cultural fit (urgency, integrity, excellence); build teams from prior networks without damaging culture.
- Drive service-line expansion governance. Identify vertical gaps, prioritize hires, and build delivery playbooks that scale across the Upper Midwest footprint. Ensure non-electrical service lines grow in absolute volume without shrinking electrical and mission‑critical performance.
- Execute customer‑facing leadership. Attend customer meetings, negotiate scope and change, handle escalations, and maintain executive presence with decision-makers throughout the region. Build trust such that customers award repeat work across multiple service lines.
- Support project controls…
