Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the strategic leader of Next Generation Playground and works closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission, strengthen community partnerships, increase fundraising efforts, and guide long-term growth initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in developing and executing the business strategy necessary to establish a sustainable sensory-friendly indoor playground and expand programming for families throughout the region.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who is passionate about disability inclusion, community impact, nonprofit growth, and building meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.

NOTE:
This is a volunteer role without monetary compensation.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Help refine and execute the business plan for the future sensory-friendly indoor playground.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, sustainability, and expanded community impact.
  • Provide leadership in planning future services, programs, and community initiatives.
Fundraising & Development
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support operational and capital campaign goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
  • Assist with grant identification, sponsorship development, and donor stewardship.
  • Help create and implement fundraising campaigns and special events.
  • Support capital fundraising efforts related to the future indoor playground project.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
  • Serve as an ambassador for Next Generation Playground within the community and work to build relationships with local businesses, schools, healthcare providers, therapy practices, and disability-focused organizations.
  • Identify strategic partnerships that advance the organization’s mission and visibility.
Event Development & Innovation
  • Generate ideas for community events, awareness initiatives, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Explore innovative opportunities to expand outreach, participation, and revenue streams.
Board Collaboration & Governance
  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Board regarding organizational growth, strategy and goal progress.
Qualifications Required
  • Passion for supporting children and families impacted by developmental, cognitive, sensory, or neurological disabilities.
  • Strong leadership, relationship‑building, and communication skills.
  • Experience in fundraising, business development, nonprofit leadership, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to turn vision into actionable plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, board members, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with strong organizational skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations or board leadership.
  • Fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship, or donor development experience.
  • Experience launching, growing, or scaling organizations, programs, or businesses.
  • Knowledge of disability inclusion, accessibility, neurodiversity, or special needs communities.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit operations, strategic planning, and community outreach.
