American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Intermediate Care (Stepdown) travel assignment requiring telemetry reading skills, ACLS certification, and availability for rotating nights, weekends, and holidays.
Details- Inpatient acute stepdown/intermediate care unit in a hospital setting
- 32-bed unit with all private rooms, nurse-to-patient ratio of 3–4 patients per nurse
- Diverse patient population including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal conditions, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and neuro/surgical/cardiac patients
- Procedures and equipment include BiPAP, CPAP, trach care, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, and dialysis
- Charting via Epic EMR;
Pyxis medication dispensing system used on unit - 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays
- Travelers are first to float; may float to ICU (with extensive ICU experience) or general med floors — ICU ratio is 2:1, general med is 5–6:1
- Active IL RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; all must be active at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must be proficient in reading telemetry
- Must be comfortable with chest tube management
- BSN not required
- Orientation consists of one day with the education team and one day of floor orientation (approximately 2 days / 24 hours total)
- Scrubs required; any color is acceptable
- Two references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- COVID vaccination is not required for this position
