** Position Overview*
* The
** FSQ Microbiology Analyst
** performs microbiological testing and related laboratory activities in accordance with approved methods, laboratory procedures, and
** ISO/IEC 17025 principles** .
This role supports day-to-day laboratory operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution of microbiological analyses, maintaining data integrity, supporting laboratory programs, and escalating deviations or atypical results to laboratory leadership.
Two opportunities are available, providing the opportunity to align responsibilities and experience level with the needs of the laboratory.
** Key Responsibilities*
* ** Laboratory Operations*
* + Perform microbiological testing of
** raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products, and environmental samples
** using validated laboratory methods.
+ Perform quantitative and qualitative microbiological analyses in accordance with approved procedures and ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
+ Support daily microbiology laboratory activities, including:
+ Sample receiving and handling
+ Sample preparation and homogenization
+ Media preparation
+ Microbiological testing
+ Plate reading and colony counting
+ Data entry and result submission
+ Laboratory sanitation
+ Participate in laboratory task or "bucket" rotations supporting routine activities and workflows.
+ Follow laboratory SOPs, approved methods, safety procedures, and established quality requirements.
+ Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation.
** Technical & Project Support*
* + Support laboratory process, project, and continuous improvement activities as assigned.
+ Provide technical data and input to laboratory leadership during investigations, deviations, and atypical result assessments.
+ Support
** method validation, method verification, and proficiency testing
** activities, including sample preparation, testing, and documentation.
+ Analyze and interpret laboratory data with strong attention to detail.
+ Ensure accurate data entry, data integrity, and compliant reporting of laboratory results.
+ Identify and escalate unexpected results, deviations, and non-conformances to laboratory leadership.
** Laboratory Compliance & Quality Programs*
* + Support laboratory compliance with
** ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements
** and applicable laboratory management programs.
+ Participate in activities related to:
+ Proficiency testing
+ Data reporting and review
+ Equipment calibration and preventive maintenance programs
+ Intermediate equipment and laboratory verification activities
+ Facilities and utility management
+ Consumable and laboratory inventory management
+ Laboratory document control
+ Report process and program non-conformances and support leadership with
** root cause analysis (RCA) and CAPA
** investigations.
+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives through data collection, process execution, and completion of assigned action items.
+ Follow controlled procedures and documentation requirements, including accurate record completion and adherence to document revisions.
+ Perform laboratory safety activities in accordance with established procedures, including safe work practices and hazardous waste management.
** Qualifications*
* ** Entry-Level Opportunity:*
* + Bachelor's degree in
** Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline
** preferred.
+ Approximately
** 1-2 years of relevant laboratory or microbiology experience** .
+
Experience with basic microbiological laboratory techniques and aseptic practices.
+ Ability to accurately follow SOPs, validated methods, and laboratory procedures.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and laboratory compliance.
** Mid-to-Senior-Level Opportunity:*
* + Bachelor's degree in
** Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline
** preferred.
+ Relevant experience in a microbiology, quality, food safety, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated laboratory environment.
+ Strong understanding of microbiological testing, laboratory documentation, and quality systems.
+ Experience supporting investigations, deviations, method validation/verification, proficiency testing, or continuous improvement initiatives is highly valued.
