Responsibilities- Terminate, splice, bond/ground, document, and test fiber optic cables within the systems fiber optic networks and related equipment to provide maximum operating efficiency.
- Perform setup, testing and maintenance for Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) installation of POTS, DSL, and Networking services.
- Install and maintain CPE Local Area Networks (LAN) and WiFi networks; install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
- Troubleshoot from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) to the demarcation point including CPE; respond to trouble tickets within company time frames.
- Install Outside Plant (OSP) facilities according to engineered work orders or service orders.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and major repairs to distribution systems; perform cable/fiber testing and splicing; locate fiber optic cabling.
- Record and report all record changes immediately; complete inventory replenish requests as needed.
- Engage in duties as assigned, including travel for training and other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One to two years in the telecommunications industry or related experience.
- Some trade school training is desired.
- Professional with customers and fellow associates; able to meet key performance metrics.
- Physical ability to work in various conditions (including adverse weather); ability to kneel or stand for long periods; climb ladders up to 25 feet with proper equipment; lift/carry up to 75 lbs including a ladder.
- Ability to work with basic hand tools and other equipment with training; operate and maintain company vehicle/equipment safely, including a DOT-certified bucket truck and trailer.
- On-call rotation duties after regular business hours; overtime availability, including holidays and weekends.
- Team-oriented and capable of working independently.
