Position: Residential Electrician: $1,500 sign-on bonus

The Non-Certified Electrician will provide electrical expertise to lead the installation of residential solar systems and batteries to ensure conformance to existing national and local building codes. Depending on state requirements, the position performs or assists in a variety of electrical work including main panel upgrades (MPUs), electrical troubleshooting and service work as well as commissioning. This role also works with the PV installation crew, filling in and performing other duties when necessary, including leading the crew in the absence of the Foreman.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property
  • Ensure work performed is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes
  • Safely plan and complete solar battery installations and MPUs as assigned and depending on state electrical certification requirements
  • Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
  • Work with branch team and homeowners to fulfill or assist in any necessary system upgrades/repairs to support our solar equipment
  • Work with local inspectors to satisfy local requirements and expectations as assigned
  • Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards
  • Perform additional duties assigned as needed
  • Travel 5% of the time
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess 75% of the hours required to sit for state specific electrical certification exams
  • Electrical installation and repair experience required; experience with wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
  • Working knowledge and experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferred
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Certified electrical trainee preferred or required depending on state requirements
  • Knowledge of current NEC codes; ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter; understanding of solar interconnection, tie‑in, and basic construction principles
  • Adheres to company safety policies and procedures, identifies and reports safety hazards, and encourages others to work safely
  • Customer service skills: establishes rapport, builds relationships, and communicates tactfully
  • Results driven: meets deadlines and key metrics; works independently and as a team player; drives results in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment; assists teammates and builds strong relationships to achieve company and department goals
  • Problem solving: solid logical decision making and troubleshooting skills; takes ownership of issues, escalates appropriately, and follows up with the customer and supervisors
Physical Demands
  • Transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces requiring bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
  • Work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including loud noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
  • Use fine motor skills for manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Operate within safe ranges of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
  • Wear heavy protective equipment such as arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
  • Maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
  • Work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
  • Walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
  • Distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green
  • Hear verbal commands and warnings
  • Use chemicals with appropriate protection
Compensation

$29.05 to $38.73
