Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARY
With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician C performs preventive maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. This position requires basic knowledge of vehicle systems to perform routine maintenance and repair. You will support drivers as they run their routes and service some of the most technically advanced vehicles on the road.
Responsibilities- Maintain a basic knowledge of a vehicle’s mechanical and electrical systems to perform basic preventive maintenance and some repair functions.
- Perform vehicle preventive maintenance inspections and adjustments; oil changes and fluid replenishment; adjustments and light repairs, including tire changes; and basic electrical work such as light changes. Conduct visual inspections to identify potential equipment issues and the sources of malfunctions using a variety of tools.
- Complete applicable company training programs.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Completion of a certified diesel maintenance program is a plus but not required.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification T8 PM is a plus but not required.
- 1–3 years of experience.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and troubleshoot common faults.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
The pay range for this position is $21.90 to $30.07 per hour, reflecting the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
