The Accounting Analyst works within the Office of the Campus Controller at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington, supportingessential financial compliance, chart of accounts oversight, anduser routing access management. As part of IU Finance's Project Horizon initiative, a multi-year effort focused on modernizingfinancial operations, improving organizational structures, and preparing for future enterprise systems, this position plays anactive role in driving process transformation.

• Leverages emerging technologies and Artificial Intelligence(AI) tools to automate routine compliance checks, optimize financial workflows, and enhance operational efficiency across the Bloomington campus.
• Assists in monitoring campus-level financial transactions toensure adherence to university financial policies, GAAP standards,state/federal regulations, and internal controls.
• Reviews accounting reconciliations, journal entries, and financial adjustments submitted by campus units for accuracy,completeness, and compliance.
• Helps identify compliance risks and works with senioraccounting staff to remediate issues promptly.
• Monitors, reviews, and maintains Chart of Accounts (COA) account setups, sub-accounts, object codes, and organizational structures to ensure standardized usage across Bloomington campusunits.
• Assists with routine audits of active/inactive accounts and ensures proper alignment with institutional and departmentalreporting requirements.
• Serve as a point of contact for campus departments regarding appropriate COA usage and account creation guidelines.
• Reviews, validates, and processes requests for financial systemrouting access, fiscal officer delegate permissions, and approvalauthority rules.
• Maintains internal control standards by verifying appropriatesegregation of duties before approving routing access or rolemodifications.
• Conducts regular access control reviews to ensure permissionsalign with departmental staff transitions and institutionalsecurity guidelines.
• Explores, evaluates, and adopts emerging technologies and AItools (e.g., generative AI co-pilots, automated workflow scripts,data analytics tools) to streamline, automate, and optimizeaccounting and compliance procedures.
• Identifies manual, repetitive tasks within compliance and routing workflows and design modern, AI-assisted processes to increase speed and accuracy.
• Supports Project Horizon team objectives by testing newfinancial tools, contributing to shared services standardization,and documenting updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Provides customer-focused guidance to Bloomington campus staff regarding financial compliance and routing procedures.
• Participates in special financial projects, audits, and modernization´s as assigned by the Campus Controller.

• Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Performs detailed accounting assignments requiring knowledge of accounting theory and principles.
• Assists in developing and installing accounting systems,procedures, and controls to safeguard the organization'sassets.
• Performs a variety of accounting assignments such as thepreparing, maintaining, and reconciling complex ledger accounts and related financial, regulatory, and management reports, profit andloss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cashflow, repayment schedules, and regulatory reports and filings.
• Provides specialized analysis for various accounting activities, including gathering, processing, analyzing, and evaluating data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reconciliations, and balance sheets.
• Verifies accuracy and makes recommendations forcorrections.
• May provide guidance to lower-level accounting employees.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.

• 2 years relevant experience.

• Familiarity with higher education accounting, publicinstitutional financial operations, or Indiana University financial systems.
• Direct experience or coursework in financial technology, AIprompt engineering, robotic process automation, or data visualization tools.
