Position: International Student and Scholar Services Representative (International Services Representative)

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS (UA-INTP-IUBLA)

The Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are stewards of international activity across all Indiana University campuses. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for international programs and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Our goal is to enable students, faculty, and staff to pursue international and intercultural knowledge and become engaged global citizens.

Department‑Specific

Responsibilities
  • Collects and, after assignment by senior Student Team staff, distributes daily e‑forms to student advisors.
  • Creates, edits, and maintains the internal documentation for daily tasks and templated messaging.
  • Serves as a resource for international students and scholars who visit the office in person, per the direction of the Assistant Director.
  • May take on additional tasks or projects to contribute to the overall success of the team.
General Responsibilities
  • Serves as primary point of contact in‑person and by phone and email for international students and scholars, academic departments, and other clients with requests related to immigration regulations and OIS procedures.
  • Reviews and responds to a broad range of inquiries, working with staff to ensure client needs are met efficiently.
  • Collects and administers mandatory reviews of documents and e‑forms for students, scholars, and departments.
  • Makes judgment calls on service level, is sensitive to deadlines, and assists with appointment scheduling.
  • Monitors and processes various e‑forms and requests, troubleshooting issues and explaining system navigation.
  • Assists in training new staff on university and office policies and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Provides general administrative support to the Office of International Services and other special projects.
Education Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED or GED)
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
Work Experience Required
  • 2 years of related office experience
Preferred
  • 2 years of experience handling complex customer service situations in a university setting.
  • Experience with federal regulations governing international students and scholars.

This role requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate a computer and standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving within an office environment and on campus.

Location & Employment

Bloomington, Indiana – Ferguson International Center. This is an in‑person position. Salary: $19.20 per hour.
