CARE AND RESOURCE CENTER (BL-CARE-IUBLA)

The Office of Student Life is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's Indiana University experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. The Student Care and Resource Center at Indiana University Bloomington provides coordinated support for students navigating academic, personal, and financial challenges. Located within the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), the Center serves as a central hub for students seeking assistance and connection to campus resources that promote well‑being and success.

The Student Support Coordinator plays a key role in the daily functioning of the Center, offering consistent front‑line support and behind‑the‑scenes coordination that ensures students receive responsive and compassionate care.

Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Manages front desk operations and responds to inquiries from students, staff, and campus partners with professionalism and care.
  • Maintains calendars, schedules meetings, and coordinates logistics for appointments, trainings, and outreach events.
  • Prepares and edits documents, correspondence, reports, presentations, and Care Team agendas.
  • Manages scheduling for Care Coordinators, including outreach for missed appointments.
  • Maintains confidential student records and supports data entry and reporting using case management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Monitors and responds to messages received through the office email and communication platforms.
  • Coordinates logistics for trainings, workshops, and outreach programs including room reservations, materials, and attendee communication.
  • Assists with marketing and promotional efforts such as printing and distributing materials.
  • Maintains office supply inventory and ordering processes.
  • Assists with onboarding new staff and trainees, including workspace and material preparation.
  • Participates in team meetings and contributes to ongoing planning and operational efforts.
General Responsibilities
  • Assists with administrative needs related to the daily operations, planning, and implementation of student support initiatives. Performs duties such as attending a front desk, answering phones and email, and delivering messages and mail.
  • Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross‑departmental student services initiatives, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders, faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and preparing reports. Accurately maintains student records and databases.
  • Schedules student appointments and provides directions, support, and information to students and other visitors to the department.
  • Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering of student feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other materials.
  • May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materials for student groups or departmental needs.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Support Coordinators.
