CAMPUS CHILD CARE SUPPORT (BL-CCCS-IUBLA)

IU Early Childhood Education Services (ECES) provides year-round, high-quality care and education at nationally accredited centers for children ages birth through 5 years. Our commitment to high quality is demonstrated by child‑centered, active learning environments based on research‑supported best practices, trained teachers, strong campus support, and national accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In addition to the service component, the IUB ECES centers support Indiana University’s academic mission by serving as student training sites and research sites for faculty and students.

Responsibilities
  • Supports children's growth and development in the five domains (social/emotional, cognitive, physical, self‑care, and communication/literacy) using research‑based methods that reflect the center’s philosophy. Shares observations about individual children’s needs, interests, and concerns with co‑teachers and uses this information to plan and implement curriculum and assessment.
  • Understands, accepts, and embraces the social, cultural, and economic backgrounds of children, families, and co‑workers, ensuring the program accommodates individual differences.
  • Works cooperatively and equitably with the classroom co‑teacher to provide an engaging, comfortable, child‑centered classroom. Is familiar with and follows state licensing regulations and national accreditation standards.
  • Fills out and files written reports and forms in a timely manner and notifies the supervisor of any accidents or unusual incidents throughout the day. Handles disagreements and conflicts with other center staff in a direct, professional, and respectful manner. Promotes the center philosophy and educational objectives and follows the center’s code of ethical conduct.
  • Assists in training hourly aides.
  • Communicates respectfully and appropriately about challenges a child may have experienced in a day. In collaboration with the co‑teacher, communicates with families about classroom activities and child’s progress on a regular basis.
  • Pursues professional development through conferences, classes, workshops, and reading.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
Work Experience
  • Some experience in a related field.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information.

This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment, remain stationary, and ascend/descend ladders and stairs. It also requires lifting objects up to 40 pounds and detecting items at close and far distances. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Salary plan and grade: PAA1CD Non‑Exempt.

This is a CWA union‑covered position.

Location:

Bloomington, Indiana

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

10:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday (35 hours per week, 0.875 FTE).
