The Lecturer position in the Department of Writing, Literature, and Modern Languages in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Indiana University Northwest is a full-time, 10-month position. The position requires an experienced teacher of American literature (any era) who is committed to the success of a broad range of students, has an array of teaching experiences in-person and online, and is willing to teach first-year writing often.
The subfield is open, but the ability to teach any of the following is especially desirable: film; creative or technical writing; grammar and stylistics; children's literature; or women's and gender studies. Summer assignments with an associated stipend are possible in accordance with programmatic need.
Core responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face and online modalities and supporting student learning in the department. The standard teaching load for a Lecturer is 24 credit hours per academic year. Active involvement in service to the department, campus, discipline, and community is also expected.

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* An earned PhD in English, American literature, or American studies by August 1, 2026
* Demonstrated experience teaching literature and first-year composition courses at the university level
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to teach one or more of the following: film; creative or technical writing; grammar and stylistics; children's literature; or women's and gender studies
* At least one published or forthcoming article or book chapter
* Engagement with pedagogical innovations in the teaching of writing
* Experience with asynchronous online teaching
* Experience teaching a broad range of students, including first-generation college students
* Experience with service activities in the discipline
