Overview
ENGAGED LEARNING & RESEARCH AC (BL-ELRA-IUBLA). The STEM Living-Learning Center (LLC) at Indiana University (IU) invites applications for an hourly Graduate Assistant (GA). The STEM LLC is an interdisciplinary residential community for first-year IU students on various STEM pathways, offering academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programming. The STEM LLC GA will support the academic and community experience of students in the STEM LLC.
The position centers on instructional support for the LLC seminar course, student mentorship, and contributing to a collaborative and engaging residential learning environment. With guidance from the STEM LLC Director, the GA will perform the following responsibilities.
- Assist in teaching a weekly STEM LLC seminar course held on Mondays from 5:30-6:30 PM (required availability) during the Fall and Spring terms.
- Grade weekly assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
- Support course planning, curriculum development, and preparation beginning August 1.
- Help supervise Peer Tutors and support Peer Mentors within the LLC.
- Serve as an accessible resource for students' academic and personal development.
- Encourage student engagement, belonging, and success within STEM pathways.
- Assist in planning and facilitating community-building activities and events.
- Assist with STEM LLC orientation programming during the week prior to the start of the academic year.
- Collaborate with campus partners and LLC staff to enhance the student experience.
- Contribute ideas and innovations to support the continued development of the newly reimagined STEM LLC.
- Required: Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Indiana University during the 26-27 academic year.
- Background: Background in a STEM discipline or relevant experience in STEM education/student success.
- Experience: Teaching, tutoring, or facilitating student learning.
- Strong interest in student development, mentorship, and experiential learning.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback on student work.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
This position requires availability Mondays from 5:30-6:30 PM. Available beginning August 1, 2026 for program planning and orientation support. This hourly position begins as early as August 1, 2026 to support course development, instructional support, and program planning that continues through the academic year. $20.00 per hour. Approximately 10 hours per week.
