Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.
This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments' access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).
ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE STEM PROGRAMS AT NORMANDALE
Normandale Community College is seeking Adjunct Instructors to join our STEM Departments. Normandale's STEM departments that are looking for Adjunct Instructors are:
Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics.
We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body. Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Those hired into these positions will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching, identifying barriers to success for students of color, and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree with a major in the STEM field you are apply for or
- Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in STEM field you are apply for.
- Coursework beyond the Master's degree
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience serving diverse and underserved populations
- An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population
- Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L
- Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches
- Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom
- Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students
- Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding students
