Edgewood Schools, Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation (RBBCSC), is a growing school corporation located in the Northwest corner of Monroe County. Indiana University and Ivy Tech are within 15 minutes of the Edgewood Campus.

Edgewood Primary School (EPS) is a K-2 building with 650 Students, 3 Office Staff, 11 Special Area and Student Support Teachers, 28 Classroom Teachers, and 1 Assistant Principal.

SUMMARY:

The EPS assistant principal supports the school principal in managing daily operations, fostering a safe and effective learning environment, and promoting student achievement. His/her responsibilities will include supervising teachers and staff, assisting with curriculum implementation, handling student discipline, overseeing testing and assessment, supporting special education services, and engaging with parents and the broader school community. This person will also help develop and enforce school policies, contribute to professional development planning, and ensure compliance with district and state educational standards.

EDUCATION/

LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's or advanced degree in educational administration.
  • Hold a valid Indiana Elementary Administration and Supervision license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in teaching and/or school administration.
  • Must possess strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Such additional qualifications as the Board or the State of Indiana shall require.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commits to the High Reliability Schools Resolution approved by Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation’s Board of School Trustees.
  • Assists the building principal with screening, interviewing, and recommending to the Superintendent for employment of all building personnel.
  • Assists new members of the staff in becoming properly acclimated to their new environments.
  • Assists the building principal with the evaluation of certified and non-certified personnel in accordance with Board policy.
  • Assists the building principal with the supervision and coordination of the staff and non-certified personnel.
  • Schedules, organizes, and conducts staff meetings on a periodic basis or whenever appropriate.
  • Maintains appropriate, complete, and up to date personnel records on all members of the staff.
  • Assists the building principal with the responsibility for the supervision and administration of the building educational program and conducts a continuous study of the curriculum in order to formulate recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools concerning students’ educational needs.
  • Assists the Superintendent of Schools with the development, scheduling, and conduct of inservice programs for the improvement of instruction.
  • Is responsible for creating an atmosphere conducive to proper behavior of all students, including behavior and discipline problems which occur on school buses.
  • Assists the building principal in the development of the master schedule and the scheduling of students within the master schedule.
  • Assists the building principal in the development, scheduling, and coordination of student organizations and activities.
  • Provides for the proper supervision of school related activities.
  • Is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and appearance of the school.
  • Conducts emergency drills, as mandated by the state or Board Policy, and files reports concerning these drills with the Superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Completes building usage forms in accordance with Board policy.
  • Meets with parents, teachers, students, and community groups and organizations demonstrating an interest in education.
  • Attends meetings pertaining to the educational needs of the School Corporation.
  • Conducts the public relations program on behalf of the school. Acts as liaison between the school and the Parent-Teacher Organization.
  • Resolves problems and conflicts as they arise between teachers, students, and parents.
