Assistant Research Professor – Medical & Molecular Genetics

Position Summary:

The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine seeks an assistant research professor for a non‑tenure scientist track faculty position. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a biology, genetics, physiology, or pharmacology related discipline and have more than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training. Research will focus on bone and mineral disease, aging‑associated diseases, and normal aging with an emphasis on the molecular and cellular basis of bone and kidney dysfunction.

The candidate will also teach analytical and experimental skills to undergraduate and graduate students and technical staff, perform services necessary to implement education programs and academic objectives, and develop research projects with strong potential for long‑term NIH funding through collaboration with colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on bone and mineral disease, aging‑associated diseases, and normal aging, focusing on bone and kidney dysfunction.
  • Teach analytical and experimental skills to undergraduate and graduate students and technical staff.
  • Perform services necessary to implement education programs and academic objectives of the department.
  • Develop research projects with strong potential for long‑term NIH funding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research and educational initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a biology, genetics, physiology, or pharmacology related discipline.
  • More than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training.
  • Expertise in conducting research on bone and mineral disease, aging‑associated diseases, and normal aging, specifically the molecular and cellular basis of bone and kidney dysfunction.
  • Strong teaching experience in analytical and experimental techniques for undergraduate and graduate students and technical staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
