About the Kelley School of Business

Responsibilities Department‑Specific Responsibilities- Provide professional advising to undergraduate JLLC business students on academic, professional and personal goals.
- Engage students 1‑on‑1 and in groups while cultivating relationships with campus partners, alumni and corporate partners.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop and execute JLLC academic and co‑curricular programs, including evening workshops and themed programs.
- Work with Kelley faculty, recruiting partners, alumni and staff to develop excursions connecting with alumni, including out‑of‑state experiences.
- Coordinate with IU Residential Life colleagues for student engagement, leadership development, behavioral interventions, student life issues and overall operation of the JLLC.
- Support JLLC required classes BUS‑X180 and BUS‑X190 through instruction or by assisting instructors.
- Develop and implement programs to improve student engagement at the program, department or campus level.
- Interface directly with students, attend student life events, gather satisfaction feedback and incorporate it into future initiatives.
- Collaborate with staff across departments and student organization leaders on shared student life goals, coordinating funding to sponsor initiatives.
- Measure and evaluate initiative effectiveness, prepare reports and present findings to stakeholders to secure funding.
- Provide guidance to student organizations on operations, budget, leadership, recruitment, registration, policies and compliance.
- Plan and coordinate communications for student life initiatives to ensure participation and inclusion.
- May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists and recommend process improvements to the manager.
Job Requirements
The role requires the ability to communicate effectively, operate standard office equipment and perform essential functions with or without accommodation. The position involves sedentary work with periods of moving supplies and furniture, facilitating food service, and setting up for special events. The Assistant Director will be onsite at the JLLC and travel evenings and weekends for orientation, recruitment, and excursion activities.
Education- Required: Bachelor’s degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in higher education student affairs or related field.
- Required: 2 years in student services, higher education or related field.
