Adjunct Faculty - Fine Arts

Position SummaryIndiana University East, Richmond, IN, invites applications for the adjunct faculty pool of the Fine and Performing Arts department, for possible hire should need arise from semester to semester. Courses may be taught online or face-to-face, with possible topics including:
- Art history (online): survey courses in eras ranging from ancient to present-day; topics course examples include history of photography, women in art, various national/regional traditions
- Studio art classes (face to face): drawing, painting, ceramics, metalsmithing and jewelry design
- Graphic design (online): graphic design, web design, typography, digital illustration, animation, gaming
- Music history and topics (online):
Western art music, world music, film music, history of jazz, popular music genres (rock, hip hop, Latin, etc.) - Music theory and sight singing (face to face)
- Music lessons and ensembles (face to face): string, woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, guitar, composition lessons; direction of pep band or choral ensembles; coaching of small classical or popular groups
- Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly, and effectively. Use methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the subject matter.
- Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies. Collect assessment data.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse populations within the university and community.
- Maintain consistent instructor presence in virtual classroom spaces. Communicate with students regularly and promptly.
- Assist with the management of campus learning spaces and equipment inventory.
- Required:
Master’s degree in art or music - Preferred:
Experience in teaching in an online post-secondary environment (online courses) - Industry/professional experience is a plus
