Department InformationCollege of Arts and Sciences Office of Undergraduate Curriculum, Policy, and Records (OUCPR) manages all aspects of the College’s undergraduate curriculum, including academic programs, courses, academic policies, the College Bulletin, student records, special programs, and curricular information systems and reporting.
Job SummaryDepartment‑Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as a team member in the Curriculum Compliance and Support division of OUCPR.
- Assists in the coordination of the undergraduate curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Ensures compliance with university, campus, and College curricular policies and takes action to correct problems.
- Works with faculty and departmental staff in the development of new courses and programs and the implementation of changes to the curriculum.
- Coordinates work necessary to the maintenance of the College of Arts and Sciences Bulletin.
- Acts as a primary conduit for communicating College curricular information, policies, and procedures to stakeholders.
- Reviews proposals for new courses and proposals for changes to existing courses and curricula to ensure compliance with College and university policies and guidelines.
- Works with faculty and staff on proposals for College of Arts and Sciences Education (CASE) and IUB General Education designations.
- Reviews the University Remonstrance list, conducting outreach to faculty administrators and consultations with OUCPR leadership as needed.
- Ensures accuracy of information in the College of Arts and Sciences Bulletin and University Course Catalog, working with faculty administrators, OUCPR staff, and other stakeholders to correct problems when identified.
- Coordinates the submission, review, and editing of Bulletin change proposals as well as the review of drafted Bulletin entries, working with faculty administrators and the Academic Systems and Information division of OUCPR to make updates where needed prior to publication.
- Prepares materials for the Committee on Undergraduate Education and takes notes at Committee meetings. Contributes to communications on curricular changes that are targeted at various stakeholders.
- Reviews audits produced by OUCPR’s internal system to monitor ongoing compliance with College policy, taking corrective action where issues are identified and as approved by OUCPR leadership. Works with faculty administrators and unit staff until issues identified in curricular audits are resolved.
- Provides training and support to College personnel with curricular responsibilities as needed. Contributes to the design of trainings and makes revisions at the direction of OUCPR leadership.
General Responsibilities
- Coordinates with educational leadership, faculty, and/or staff, designs curriculum for students, courses, degree programs, or schools.
- Consults with faculty to determine curricular needs and identify gaps; creates course objectives and outcomes to reach targeted learning.
- Reviews proposals to modify existing course curriculum and create new courses; ensures accuracy of information and determines whether proposal aligns with standards and objectives for the course.
- Assists with preparation and dissemination of course materials, such as course syllabi, textbook selection, course packs, and other related materials.
- Performs evaluation and assessment activities, ensuring consistency across purview, including observation of courses, preparation of course evaluation results, development of reports and outcomes for accreditation review, and analysis of feedback from faculty regarding curricular outcomes.
- Manages curriculum mapping process.
- May make process recommendations to manager for improved operational efficiency.
Education
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in related field. - Preferred:
Master’s degree.
