Jellison Living Learning Center (JLLC), formerly the Kelley Living Learning Center, serves as the only LLC for Kelley School of Business track first-year students  JLLC is part of the Student Communities division in the academic unit of the Kelley Undergraduate Program. Kelley is proud to be ranked in the top 8 of all undergraduate business programs by U.S. News and World Report (2023).

Department‑Specific

Responsibilities
  • Performs an array of professional level work, ranging from the core duties of advising undergraduate JLLC business students in their academic, professional, and personal goals, to solving more complex administrative problems through independent actions.
  • As an advisor, the Assistant Director engages students 1-on-1 and in groups while cultivating relationships with campus partners, alumni, and corporate partners.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director to develop and execute JLLC academic and co‑curricular programs, including Professional Development Series evening programs, workshops, and themed programs.
  • Collaborates with Kelley faculty, recruiting partners, alumni and other staff in development of excursions to connect with alumni, including out‑of‑state experiences.
  • Collaborates with IU Residential Life colleagues for student engagement, leadership development programs, student behavioral interventions, student life issues, and support of the overall operation of the JLLC.
  • Support JLLC required classes BUS‑X180 and BUS‑X190 through instruction or aiding the instructors.
General Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
  • Interfaces directly with students, attending student life events and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student life initiatives and objectives.
  • Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
  • Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
  • Provides guidance to student organizations regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment, registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership and student development through advising of individual student leaders and volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of student organization policies.
  • Plans and coordinates communications for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or related field.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field.
