Based on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University, the Asian Culture Center (ACC) aims to promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures, history, and issues as an integral part of the fabric of American life in the United States. The Asian Cultural Center (ACC), a Department within OSL, accomplishes this through advocacy, institutional resources, cultural and educational support, and community outreach activities that promote participation and dialogue with students, faculty, staff, and residents of Indiana.
One does not have to be of Asian or Pacific Islander heritage to be involved with the ACC. Everyone is welcome.
Under moderate supervision, the ACC student assistant shall provide clerical support and programmatic assistance in coordinating and facilitating ACC sponsored and non-ACC sponsored programs/events held in the ACC and outside of the center.
Department Specific Responsibilities- Drafts program descriptions, press releases, and other literature for the Asian Culture Center.
- Assists with short video and audio productions.
- Desigs promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and printed program calendars.
- Staffs ACC information tables at various events and programs.
- Co-supervises programs and activities.
- Assists with moderating events and interviewing guests for the ACC's radio program.
- Assists with community outreach programs.
- Assists with social media.
- Serves as a liaison to campus and community groups.
- Maintains ACC's calendar of events/programs in ACC, IUB, and outside webpage calendars.
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
Required
- Prior experience in an office setting is preferred
- Students who have taken an Asian American Studies course
Required
- Demonstrated ability to interact tactfully and courteously with a wide variety of people, including staff, students, faculty, and other users of ACC's facilities
- Able to stay organized and pay attention to details, even when things get busy
- Ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment
- Reliable, flexible, and open to learning new things
- Skilled in written communication and common computer programs
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
This position has a start date of Monday, August 10, 2026.
This position is work-study eligible.
