The Office of Admissions (ADMS) is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington.
The Student Transition and Success Coordinator (STSC) will lead the development, coordination, and delivery of transfer advising and pathway support within Indiana University’s IUBound initiative. Building on the proven success of the College Access Advising (CAA) model, this position focuses on mentoring, academic support, coaching, program planning and implementation, and other activities to contribute to the success of students for underserved students and particularly those from rural, low-income, and first-generation backgrounds who pursue transfer pathways to Indiana University.
DepartmentSpecific Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with Ivy Tech Community College, IU regional campuses, partner high schools, the Center for Rural Engagement, Regional Opportunity Initiatives, and campus stakeholders to demystify the transfer process, improve academic preparation, increase transfer enrollment, and support timely bachelor's degree completion.
- Provide individualized and group advising to IUBound students pursuing transfer pathways, beginning in high school and continuing through degree completion.
- Work closely with IUBound advisors and College Access Advising staff to align advising strategies and identify students who would benefit from transfer pathway support.
- Guide students through transfer timelines, application processes, and enrollment steps, ensuring clarity around expectations and milestones through transfer-focused programming.
- Advise students on transferable coursework, credit accumulation, and course alignment to reduce excess credit loss and time-to-degree.
- Support major exploration and decision-making, helping students understand the academic and financial implications of major choice in the transfer process.
- Collaborate with campus advising units, admissions, financial aid, and academic departments to ensure consistent, student-centered transfer messaging.
- Provide targeted support for students entering structured pathway programs such as Hoosier Link, Verto, and other articulated transfer options.
- Develop and manage a dedicated transfer track within IUBound, integrating early transfer planning into the broader college readiness model.
- Create, implement, and maintain the Finish IU Checklist, documenting all essential academic and administrative steps for successful transfer and graduation.
- Monitor and track program goals, transfer enrollment, and student outcomes, including transferable credits earned, transfer admissions, enrollment yield, persistence, and degree completion.
- Contribute to grant reports, internal assessments, and stakeholder presentations to communicate outcomes and inform continuous improvement.
- Manages a first-year undergraduate territory.
