Indiana University's College of Arts and Sciences (The College) is a professional organization comprised of 3 schools (the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, the Media School; the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design), 80 departments and programs spanning the arts and humanities, social sciences, and natural and mathematical sciences and served by world-renowned faculty and skilled and talented administrators.

We are a team of professional academic advisors and administrators dedicated to providing support and expert guidance to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences, including the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design, the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and The Media School.

College Advising is part of the Academic Engagement and Student Experience team (AESE) in the College, along with the Walter Center for Career Achievement, the College International Programs Office, and the College's Undergraduate Recruiting Team. We are part of a wider community of academic advisors on campus and beyond. • Provides academic advising for students pursuing or considering the minor in Pre-Professional Clinical Health and students with majors in the College who are considering professional programs in the health sciences.
• Creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
• Meets with students individually or in groups to guide them in pursuing a course of study based on their developmental needs and their academic and career goals.
• Teaches students to explore their intellectual interests and assess their abilities. Teaches students to research and understand the requirements of their intended major, minor and certificate programs, as well as professional programs of interest.
• Guides students in planning a personalized course of study based on their academic and career objectives, with an emphasis on timely completion of course prerequisites for professional degree programs in the health sciences.
• Makes effective use of student information systems to monitor student academic progress and provide ongoing support and guidance for students in the building and refinement of their personal academic plans. Help students identify and engage with experiential learning and co-curricular opportunities that support their academic and career goals.
• Keeps accurate records of student advising contacts and maintain the confidentiality of student records. Remains current on curricular requirements, policies, and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of advising and student development theory through ongoing professional development. Assume other advising responsibilities as assigned by the College's Advising Leadership Team.
• Serves as the point person for the Pre-Professional Clinical Health minor and primary liaison with the Health Professions and Prelaw Advising Office and other advising units.
• Provides group advising for prospective students and information sessions for campus partners. Directs students to appropriate campus resources such as career services, tutoring, and other academic support services.
• Supports students in pursuit of undergraduate research, internship, and study abroad opportunities. Represents the Pre-Professional Clinical Health minor and the College on committees and working groups and at recruiting functions. Assists in the development of written materials.
• Collaborates with the Health Professions and Prelaw Advising Office to maintain current knowledge of prerequisites for professional programs in health fields and application requirements. Researches, recommends, or develops best practices for health professions advising. Provides training and support for other advisors as appropriate.
