Position SummaryAs part of a major, multi-year effort to expand research activities in Quantum Information Science through the Faculty 100 initiative , the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2027. Appointment will be in the Department of Physics .
We are particularly interested in applicants working in the areas of quantum sensing and quantum detection experiments, especially those who intend to establish a tabletop or benchtop research lab at IU Bloomington. Candidates who conduct experimental research complementing our activities in atomic/molecular/optical physics, quantum information science and technology, quantum photonics, precision measurement, nuclear and particle physics, or quantum sensing for biophysics/biomedical sciences will be given preference.
We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of these domains, who may collaborate with colleagues across the IU Quantum Science & Engineering Center , the Center for Exploration of Energy and Matter , or the multi-institutional Center for Quantum Technologies .
Applicants should possess a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. A substantial record of research accomplishments, appropriate to rank, is required, and applicants should be committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
