Position Summary

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) established its first endowed professorship in 1996 in honor of the first dean, Emily Holmquist. This professorship focuses on pediatric oncology nursing—an area that builds on the existing strengths of the school and its long history of close association with the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. IUSON is seeking exceptional candidates for the Emily Holmquist Professor or Scholar in Pediatric Oncology Nursing.

The candidate’s responsibilities include contributing to IUSON’s research, teaching, and service missions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a record of nationally and/or internationally disseminated and peer‑reviewed scholarship in pediatric oncology nursing. For appointment to Associate Professor, evidence of an emerging national reputation is required. For appointment to Full Professor, evidence of a sustained national reputation and a well‑established and cumulative body of work in rank is required.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings.
  • Engage in high‑quality teaching and mentoring, leveraging diverse teaching strategies to create inclusive learning spaces and prepare graduates to lead in an increasingly complex world. Serve as a mentor and role model for students and faculty colleagues.
  • Participate actively in service at the school, campus, community, and professional levels.
Basic Qualifications
  • PhD required; a PhD in Nursing Science preferred. Candidates with a PhD in a related field (public health, health sciences, psychology, sociology, education) will be considered if they hold a master’s degree or equivalent in nursing.
  • Expertise in pediatric oncology nursing required.
  • Record of scholarly achievement suitable for appointment as Associate or Full Professor.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers and possess interpersonal skills necessary to serve as mentor and role model.
  • Licensed or eligible for Indiana RN licensure required.

Salary commensurate with experience and rank.
