LATINO STUDIES (BL-LATS-IUBLA)

The Administrative Services and Programs Manager is a shared services role between 4 programs. These include the American Studies Program (AMST), the Latino Studies Program (LATS), Native American and Indigenous Studies Program (NAIS), and Asian American Studies Program (AAST).

- Specific Responsibilities
  • Serves as administrative services and program manager, office manager, and assistant to the Chairs for the Programs of:
    American Studies (AMST), Asian American Studies (AAST), Latino Studies (LATS), and Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS).
  • Latino Studies, as a stand-alone program outside of American Studies, will require that the position pay particular attention to programming and budgeting for this unit during the  AY.
  • This position requires the program manager to be based physically in the LATS office.
  • Serves as the public face of the Latino Studies Program at its main office and at recruiting events.
  • Manages all programs; handles administrative and enrollment activities at undergraduate levels; plans and coordinates faculty travel and events for all units; and includes faculty personnel assistance.
  • Establishes, interprets, and modifies program policies and operating procedures. Provides transaction processing and other financial administrative support as dictated by program needs and under the direction of the Fiscal Officer.
  • Assists in implementing initiatives. Represents the programs at various meetings.
  • Understand the Chairpersons
    ¿ goals and the mission of the programs; implement chairs
    ¿ goals. Advise and assist the Chairs with University, College and Departmental policies and procedures and assure that appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them. Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
  • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
  • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
  • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
  • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program. Writes grant reports.
  • Administers program budgets.

  • Applies knowledge of outreach and engagement practices to communicate program information and educational content to community audiences in accessible and effective ways.
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with community organizations, participants, and university partners to support outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Assists in identifying community needs, interests, and opportunities for engagement and provides input regarding program improvements and outreach strategies.
