We are seeking an experienced and dynamic GM – Plumbing & Firefighting Design to lead the design, planning, coordination, and execution support of plumbing and firefighting systems across residential, commercial, mixed-use, and hospitality projects. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring efficient, code-compliant, sustainable, and cost‑effective MEP designs while coordinating with consultants, architects, project teams, and statutory authorities.
Key Responsibilities- Design Management – Lead the design and development of plumbing, water supply, drainage, sewage treatment, storm water, rainwater harvesting, and firefighting systems for real estate projects. Review and approve design drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documents prepared by consultants. Ensure designs comply with applicable NBC, IS Codes, local authority regulations, and fire department requirements. Optimize designs for functionality, sustainability, cost efficiency, and ease of maintenance.
Evaluate alternative materials, technologies, and engineering solutions to improve project outcomes. - Project Coordination – Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, project execution teams, and external stakeholders. Conduct design review meetings and resolve interdisciplinary design clashes. Provide technical support during project execution and address site‑related design issues. Ensure timely delivery of design packages in line with project schedules.
- Fire & Life Safety Compliance – Review firefighting layouts, hydraulic calculations, pump room designs, sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, fire alarm integrations, and water storage requirements. Liaise with fire authorities and consultants for obtaining statutory approvals and NOCs. Ensure adherence to fire and life safety standards throughout project development.
- Value Engineering & Cost Optimization – Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality and safety. Review BOQs, technical specifications, and material standards. Support procurement teams in vendor and material evaluations.
- Quality & Process Management – Establish design standards, SOPs, and best practices across projects. Ensure quality control and consistency in design deliverables. Participate in technical audits and design reviews. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable engineering practices.
- Team Leadership – Lead and mentor design engineers and consultants. Allocate responsibilities, review deliverables, and ensure team productivity. Develop technical capabilities within the design team.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering.
- Master's Degree or relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
- 15–20+ years of experience in plumbing and firefighting design within the real estate, construction, or consulting industry.
- Proven experience handling large-scale residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, or township projects.
- Strong knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA standards, fire safety regulations, and local statutory requirements.
- Experience in hydraulic calculations, firefighting system design, and utility planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM platforms, and relevant design software.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
