POSITION VISION AND SUMMARYThe Mortgage Services Manager represents Habitat in mortgage loan origination, evaluation, processing, on-going monitoring, closing mortgage loans and post-closing support. This position originates new loan applications, processes the mortgage loans, and assures that all documentation needed to support an underwriting decision is present. In the case of third-party loans, this position ensures that both the borrower’s and Habitat’s interests are satisfied.
In addition, this position is responsible for managing the loan portfolio including taking action on delinquent accounts. The Mortgage Services Manager maintains knowledge of loan origination and compliance and a strong understanding of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rules and regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain positive and consistent up-to-date communications with home buyers during the origination process, assisting with any questions and helping educate them on the origination and closing process
- Work with home buyers in obtaining the necessary documentation and information to accurately prepare loan files for underwriting and closing packages
- Input information to create loan estimates in Calyx or other software
- Work with title companies to schedule closings and review closing disclosures
- Monitor processing time and prepare adverse action notices or approval letters (as applicable) in a timely manner and in compliance with regulations
- Generate and review all loan documents and coordinate with legal counsel and title agent to ensure all real estate transactions are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee mortgage servicing in compliance with all relevant legislation; includes managing accurate recording of mortgage payments, correspondence with homeowners, escrow accounts and analysis, payoff balance requests, and accurate credit reporting
- Provide required monthly, quarterly and annual reports regarding mortgage delinquency and homeowner selection
- Provide ongoing post-mortgage assistance to homeowners through continuing education, resolving loan delinquencies and payment issues, and management of Homeowners Association(s)
- QLO certification or ability to obtain certification required
- Experience:
Minimum of three years originating, closing and/or processing mortgage loans - Maintain awareness and compliance with all State and Federal regulations and requirements for mortgage lending
- Comfortable and adept at building relationships and communicating with customers from diverse populations and backgrounds
