Department InformationIndiana University (IU) Bloomington Human Resources (HR) managesday-to-day HR operations and drives the implementation of strategicpeople initiatives for 26 departments, units, and schools acrossthe IU Bloomington campus. As strategic business partners, weprovide subject matter leadership and consulting designed to increase workplace productivity and to develop improved processes for attracting, developing, and retaining people with the required skills and aptitude to meet current and future business needs.
Job SummaryAreas of responsibility may include employment and selection,classification and compensation, employee relations, and ongoing HRsupport in assigned unit(s).
General Responsibilities- Counsels academic and/or staff employees and management onvarious HR topics and functions; communicates and sharesunderstanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws,standards and other government regulations.
- Researches, responds to, and addresses various employeerelation issues such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA),employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.
- Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions,in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, andlegal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to academic and/or staff employees and managers.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the operational strategy and culture for recruitment coordinator, school, or department.
- Contributes and/or manages various academic and/or staff HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment,onboarding, engagement, or performance management.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant academic and/or HRtopics.
- May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR teamor centers of expertise (COE) partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.
- May lead small projects or activities.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION Required- Bachelor's degree.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
- Some experience in human resources or related field.
- Experience working with data entry, document handling, orsystem-based workflows across multiple systems.
- SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year from date of hire.
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
- Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.
- Proactively approaches responsibilities.
- Knowledge of human resources policies.
- Exhibits understanding of Federal and State employment law.
- Ability to learn and effectively navigate competing priorities in multiple HR systems and managing systems-based workflows.
- Ability to follow established procedures to ensure data accuracy and compliance in support of the employee life cycle.
- Exposure to enterprise HR systems, such as:
Salesforce CRM (HRconsole), People Soft Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) or similarapplicant tracking systems, and Hyland OnBase or comparabledocument and records management systems.
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
