Position SummaryFaculty positions in biostatistics, health data science, and informatics areas are available in the Department of Biostatistics and Health Data Science (BHDS), associated with the Indiana University School of Medicine and Fairbanks School of Public Health on the Indianapolis campus. Position level (Assistant, Associate, or Full) and track (tenure‑track and research track) are dependent upon the qualifications, interests, and career goals of the applicant.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing BHDS Department with 36 faculty members and more than 50 professional staff. The department is dedicated to excellence in biostatistical, health data science, and informatics research and education. The department has an extensive portfolio of research programs in related areas. NIH funding as principal investigators and co-investigators has been ranked among the top in the nation.
The department currently offers an ongoing PhD program in Biostatistics, MS program in Biostatistics, and BS program in Health Data Science. The department has strong collaborations with clinical and basic science research departments and divisions, and health systems including IU Health and Eskenazi Hospitals. The department also partners with major research institutes and centers. The Indianapolis campus is the focal point of health professions education at Indiana University, and the School of Medicine is the country’s second largest allopathic medical school.

- Doctorate or terminal degree is required.
- PhD in Biostatistics, health data science, statistics, informatics, data science, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related fields.
