Founded in 1842, the Indiana University (IU) Maurer School of Law is the oldest public law school in the Midwest. Located on IU's flagship Bloomington campus, the Law School provides students an exceptional legal education and is unmatched for the beauty of its surroundings. It is the highest‑ranked public law school in Indiana and in the top 20 among public law schools nationally.

Preeminent faculty, dedicated and talented staff, and engaged alumni make up the law school's caring community.

The Law School is committed to hiring and developing staff who want to work in a high performing and collegial environment that supports the outstanding work of our students and colleagues.

A person in this role uses experienced judgment, analytical techniques, and knowledge of institutional systems to resolve moderately complex data and reporting problems while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

Department‑Specific Responsibilities
  • Analyzes, designs, and supports data‑driven processes and reporting solutions that advance the Law School's academic, administrative, and strategic objectives.
  • Serves as a primary liaison between Law School stakeholders and Indiana University's enterprise data environment, translating complex reporting, accreditation, and ranking requirements into reliable, auditable data processes and analytical outputs.
  • Supports recurring external reporting obligations (e.g., American Bar Association, U.S. News and World Report, LSAC, LSSSE), institutional decision‑making, and one‑off analytical requests from faculty and staff.
  • Engages with Law School stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business, reporting, and analytical requirements.
  • Interprets external reporting definitions and methodologies and translate them into actionable data specifications.
  • Identifies gaps, inconsistencies, or risks in data sources and recommend appropriate solutions or mitigations.
  • Applies sound judgment and analytical reasoning to ambiguous or evolving requests.
  • Designs, produces, and validates recurring and ad‑hoc reports supporting accreditation, rankings, governance, and administrative decision‑making.
  • Reconciles and explains discrepancies across multiple institutional and external data sources.
  • Ensures data accuracy, completeness, and methodological consistency across reporting cycles.
  • Communicates findings, assumptions, and limitations clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Works within Indiana University's enterprise data environment to access, integrate, and analyze institutional data.
  • Supports the transition from legacy, locally developed data processes to modern, supported platforms and tools.
  • Collaborates with central IT and data governance partners to ensure appropriate use of institutional systems and data assets.
  • Maintains functional understanding of data security, privacy, and access controls.
  • Serves as a trusted analytical advisor to faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Provides consultative support for one‑off or exploratory analytical questions requiring interpretation rather than predefined reporting.
  • Builds effective working relationships across functional units to support shared objectives.
  • Documents data definitions, reporting methodologies, and analytical processes to support continuity and transparency.
  • Tracks work and changes using institutional project or issue management tools.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and clarity in reporting and data practices.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides advanced consulting for end users, department/business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather business requirements, identify optimal business intelligence (BI) data solutions, and bridge those needs with the use of business intelligence tools.
  • Builds and maintains advanced BI solutions that address the data, reporting, business analytics, predictive analytics, and forecasting needs of the department and/or school's business and educational operations.
  • Leads in identifying data sources, modeling, and integrating data necessary for the design and maintenance of standard and ad‑hoc reports and analyses as well as visual solutions such as dashboards; collects,…
