Department InformationIndiana University (IU) Public Safety pursues the university'scommitment to providing the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community, consistent with the university'smission and environment, applicable legal and professional standards, and available resources. IU Public Safety directly oversees areas including the IU Police Department, Emergency Management and Continuity, and Fire Safety and Loss Prevention, operating with a team of approximately 300 dedicated staff on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operational basis across all campuses.
Job Summary- Provides day-to-day operational management of public safety dispatch staff.
- Establishes short-term operational objectives.
- Identifies public safety dispatch and operational issues and/orareas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency; provides oversight for continuous integration, testing, quality assurance and quality control efforts.
- Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff, establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.
- Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.
- Provides direct supervision and oversight of staff setting expectations to meet department objectives and is held accountable for the performance and development of team.
- Ensures and provides training to staff to improve customer service operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for staff.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 2 years of related experience
- Ability to lead/manage others

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
