Job Description
The Process Technician helps the production staff to direct day-to-day process activities for the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. The Process Technician monitors and coordinates efficient communication with Supervisors, Team Leaders and Employees through proactive, high‑participation work‑team involvement, and is responsible for the administration of company policies and practices. In addition, the Process Technician implements Amcor values and plays a major role in achieving our vision of being the dominant supplier of value‑added films in the industry.
PositionResponsibilities
- Administers plant operations safety and quality programs, fostering a safety‑and‑quality‑minded working environment.
- Coaches work teams and develops mentor relationships with production floor personnel.
- Participates in company planning during morning meetings to help set daily agenda priorities.
- Owns process improvement efforts in all areas, resulting in cost savings and tracking for the facility.
- Handles process preventive maintenance items (winders, hoppers, screw & barrels).
- Performs tasks individually or in groups to solve process‑related issues.
- Takes initiative to lead situations requiring immediate action.
- Possesses working knowledge of all resins, their functions, and processing temperatures.
- Understands all extrusion processes from extruders to winders and associated accessories.
- Assists maintenance with annual die cleanings and process preventive maintenance.
- Updates and documents process condition sheets.
- Creates and processes job jackets.
- Takes the lead on new product and trial implementation.
- Collects accurate screw and barrel wear data for all lines.
- Maintains vision systems from a setup/recipe standpoint and trains production employees on the system as needed.
- Is on call for process support on a weekly basis.
- Minimum of 4 years of extrusion experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred. If not certified, the employee is expected to pursue and complete the training at the first available time offered by the company.
