Position: Lab Tech (Aerospace Manufacturing) (Bloomington, MN)

As a Lab Technician you will prepare, conduct and maintain required records for spectrographic, physical, hardness, and chemical testing on castings and processes consistent with established and accepted standards.

We are a growth‑oriented company within the aerospace industry, manufacturing aluminum and magnesium products for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and engines for over 100 years.

Responsibilities
  • Perform chemical analysis or metals using Optical Emission Spectrometers
  • Perform standardization checks of equipment using reference material traceable to NIST
  • Calibrate, maintain, set up and operate testing equipment including spectrograph, tensile tester, hardness tester and chemical test equipment consistent with company standards
  • Perform chemical analysis on incoming metal, in‑process pot checks and final pot checks at the time of pouring that are consistent with established procedures and report results to the Pour‑off Department
  • Coordinate round‑robin testing to confirm internal calibration and perform analysis of results for corrective action using statistical methods
  • Support FPI, etch and heat‑treat operations by performing both physical and chemical analysis of the department
  • Review all completed test work for conformance with established procedures and specifications, performing retest as may be required
  • Review all incoming certification on primary raw materials for the Melt Department and weld rod for the Weld Department, for materials and company specifications
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of lab experience
  • Strong organizational skills
