VP UNIVERSITY RELATIONS OFFICE (UA-VPUR-IUBLA)

Indiana University (IU) Innovates supports student entrepreneurs, faculty innovators, and startup founders through mentorship, venture development programming, and strategic connections across Indiana University and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. The department advances innovation and economic development by providing structured programming, networking opportunities, and startup support resources.

The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator supports the development and execution of digital communications strategies for IU Innovates. This position is responsible for creating and managing content across social media platforms, assisting with digital marketing initiatives, and ensuring consistent alignment with Indiana University brand and communications standards. This position contributes to strategic storytelling efforts that elevate IU Innovates programming, highlight student and founder success, and enhance overall visibility and engagement.

Department‑Specific

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain content across Linked In, Instagram, and Facebook platforms.
  • Produce short‑form video content, including promotional videos and event recaps.
  • Capture and edit photography and video at IU Innovates programs and events.
  • Draft professional, audience‑specific social media copy consistent with IU brand guidelines.
  • Maintain and manage a structured content calendar aligned with departmental priorities.
  • Monitor social media performance metrics and prepare engagement summaries.
  • Assist with email marketing campaigns utilizing Salesforce Marketing or comparable CRM platforms.
  • Ensure brand consistency and adherence to Indiana University communications standards.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff, students, and campus partners to support strategic marketing initiatives.

Education

Required
:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.

Work Experience
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, startup, or entrepreneurial environments.
Skills

Required
:

  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms (Linked In, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Cap Cut, or similar).
  • Experience with photo editing and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.

Preferred
:

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or CRM‑based email marketing platforms.
  • Familiarity with Indiana University brand and communications standards.
Location and Schedule

Pay: $18 - $21 per hour depending on experience

Hours:

20 - 29 hours per week
