ARTS & SCIENCES; DEAN (BL-ARSD-IUBLA)Our team is responsible for communications and marketing projects that advance the mission and strengthen the brand of the IU College of Arts and Sciences. We focus on college‑wide initiatives, including brand development and management, user‑focused website development for our departments and programs, and recruitment marketing strategy and products.
The College’s Communications and Marketing office employs several student writers who generate 600‑800 word news stories for the College’s homepage and news page, and social media channels. Topics covered include student experiences, faculty scholarship, and spotlights of the College’s departments, programs, centers and institutes.
Department‑Specific Responsibilities- Write 600‑800 word news and feature stories for the College.
- Research and fact‑check information, including ensuring accuracy of quotes used in articles.
- Comply with IU editorial guidelines and meet Communications and Marketing deadlines.
- Identify, pitch, and tell compelling and authentic stories that showcase the College’s vibrant intellectual community and its impact.
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
- Undergraduate or graduate student with junior or senior status.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Organizational skills, with the ability to plan effectively and meet deadlines.
- Passion for higher education and research.
- Experience with news reporting, blogging, or other public‑facing writing.
Location:

Compensation: $12.00 per hour
