Job Description

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.
About Bio Life Plasma ServicesEvery day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high‑quality plasma you collect will become life‑changing medicines. You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues.
The Specialist will be familiar with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment, follow guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs, and provide center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow medical emergency procedures, including standing orders and transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation under occupational health/ER guidance; refer to EHS instructions.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements; currently licensed or certified (LPN or LVN) in the assignment state.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA‑approved training for the Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
