Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

Overview

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Med Surg position at a short‑term acute care hospital, requiring Cerner experience and a minimum of 18 months of RN experience.

• Active IN or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if IN, Compact, or temp license is obtained prior to start
• RN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
• Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted, must be current)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care/management, and PICC line management required
• Experience administering blood products required
• Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Experience with post‑cardiac surgery patients (directly or indirectly from OR) and TAVI/TAVR required
• Preferred experience:
  
  Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, sheath removal, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD/Impella), and ventilator management
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Mixed acuity PCU/Med Surg unit serving cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, and oncology patient populations
• Patient population includes post‑cardiac surgery (CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, VATS), thoracic surgery, and flex acuity Med Surg, Progressive, and ICU cardiovascular and oncology patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12‑hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on‑call requirement
• All private rooms equipped with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Free parking available

• Indiana residents are considered local candidates and are not eligible for this PCU position
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12‑month break in IU employment before being eligible as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out‑of‑state residents require a 90‑day break; in‑state residents require a 180‑day break
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto‑approved
• Scrub colors required: black bottoms and red top
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
