EBIO Postdoctoral Fellow positions in Infectious Disease Modeling
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health at Indiana University – Bloomington invites applications for one or more postdoctoral fellow positions in Infectious Disease Modeling. Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Marco Ajelli, the postdoctoral fellow will focus on applied infectious disease epidemiology using mathematical, computational, and statistical modeling. The position is a one‑year appointment with possible renewal based on performance and offers benefits and compensation aligned with NIH stipend levels.

Dr. Ajelli leads the Laboratory for Computational Epidemiology and Public Health (CEPH lab) at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. - Received a doctoral degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, physics, computer science, or related discipline) from an accredited institution.
- Computational proficiency: must be proficient in C or C++ or have a track record of mastering multiple low‑level and high‑level programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Julia, Fortran).
- Previous postdoctoral experience is not required.
- Develop data‑driven mathematical and computational models with methodological rigor for high‑impact publications.
- Lead at least one major project while contributing to collaborative lab efforts, including writing grant proposals and papers.
- Mentor lab members.
- Focus on respiratory infectious diseases (e.g., COVID‑19, influenza, RSV) and mosquito‑borne diseases, with flexibility to pivot to public health emergencies.
