The Indiana University School of Medicine invites applications for a two‑year postdoctoral fellowship focused on long‑term care and aging research. This fellowship examines the intersection of clinical research, health policy, and implementation science, with an emphasis on improving care for older adults and individuals with dementia.
The fellow will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team under the primary mentorship of Dr. Kathleen Unroe, a national leader in applied aging research. The fellowship is supported by funded projects and offers opportunities to develop independent research in health policy and pragmatic trials.
Key Opportunities and Responsibilities- Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research on health policy and long‑term care for older adults, including those living with dementia.
- Participate in clinical research in the nursing home setting.
- Contribute to data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant development.
- Collaborate with faculty investigators and national networks to advance best practices in clinical trials in nursing homes.
- The Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics is the largest division in the School of Medicine with a research portfolio exceeding $20 million in FY2021 and numerous collaborations with university and health‑care partners.
- The IU Center for Aging Research is a national leader in clinical and applied aging research, fostering collaboration with investigators worldwide.

- Build a competitive research portfolio in a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment.
- Doctorate or terminal degree required (PhD in nursing, sociology, gerontology, health policy, public health, biostatistics, or related field; or MD with research experience).
- Strong background in clinical research, health policy, or aging‑related studies.
- Research interest in long‑term care.
- Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative methods; programming skills and familiarity with dyadic analysis preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity for academic writing and research dissemination.
